Hard-line rock

Updated on 26 February 2008

By Andrew Thomas

Classics of the British rock scene are enjoying a second life, not on the internet, but in hard line and totalitarian countries, reports More4 News.

Today, as the New York Philharmonic orchestra took to the stage in Pyongyang, North Korea, it's emerged they are not the only ones visiting the North Korea to serenade the subjects of the 'Dear Leader'.

The North Korean embassy in London has confirmed that they've invited Eric Clapton to play in later in the year. No word yet on whether he'll accept, but if he does he'd mark part of a trend.

Chris de Burgh's agent today confirmed that the 'Lady in Red' crooner is in talks to play in Iran this autumn, and all this after 1970s rockers Deep Purple played for the likely future Russian president Dmitry Medvedev at a birthday party for the oil company Gazprom.
