Gunmen on the run after attack
Updated on 03 March 2009
Gunmen who injured six cricketers and their British coach and killed eight Pakistanis in a half-hour shootout are still on the loose.
The attack happened as Sri Lanka's team were heading for the third day of their match against Pakistan in Lahore.
The gunmen's attack on a convoy of Sri Lankan cricketers was all the more brazen for being staged in a busy city centre, while the team were surrounded by police.
They used rifles, grenades and rockets to ambush a team who thought they would be relatively safe touring Pakistan.
ICC press conference
The International Cricket Council did agree today that Pakistan is unlikely to host international cricket in the immediate future.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy went along to their press conference in London, where they defended their security assessments, admitting they were well aware of the dangers.
