Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, the caretaker leader of Bangladesh, is in London to meet Gordon Brown, as More4 News reports.

An overwhelmingly Muslim country, Bangladesh is largely under-reported in the UK media.

The country of origin for hundreds of thousands of British people, for most of its short history it has been a democracy.

In Pakistan the military-backed rule of General Musharraf was the focus of world attention, but a similar situation in Bangladesh has gone widely unnoticed.

Rioting followed the cancellation of elections last year, and since then the army have kept Dr Ahmed in power.
