Updated on 29 November 2008

By Nick Paton Walsh

A Taj barman tells Channel 4 News how he witnessed a massacre and survived for three days barricaded with guests and staff.

Survivors trapped inside the luxury Taj Mahal Palace hotel have been describing the terror they faced during the three-day siege.

Among them, Australian barman Joel Lindsey. He has been telling Nick Paton Walsh how he hid from the gunmen in a room with 200 terrified people, at least two of whom had been shot.

Rescued by Indian special forces, he was then confronted with further horrors while leaving the building.
