Wednesday 26 November 2008: More economic team appointments and making time for volunteering.

For the third day in a row, Barack Obama added more names to his economic team. Paul Volcker and Austan Goolsbee will lead the Economic Recovery Advisory Board.

At yet another press conference, Obama said that the plethora of economic announcements was a reflection of the "frustration with the incapacity of Washington to take bold, clear, decisive steps to deal with our economic problems."

They were not the only names linked to positions within the future Obama administration. It seems Robert Gates, the George W. appointed defence secretary is to stay in post.

Obama is set to formally announce next week that the former CIA director of central intelligence under Bush senior will retain his position at the pentagon for at least a year. Well, they did say there would be a Republican in the Democrat camp.

After the press conference, Obama and his family set out to spread some Thanksgiving holiday cheer. The four of them gave out food at St Columbanus school and parish in Chicago.

Obama said he wanted his daughters "to learn the importance of how fortunate they are and make sure they are giving back," by volunteering at the 'food pantry'. He even made an impromptu talk to hundreds of school children at the school.
