Curfew lifted in Swat Valley

Thousands of people have fled their homes in Pakistan's Swat Valley after the army briefly lifted a curfew.

People had been trapped by fighting between government troops and Taliban militants and were relieved to have been allowed to leave, whether on foot, by donkey or bus.

The army has been trying to reverse gains made by the Taliban and claims to have killed up to 200 fighters in the last 24 hours.
