Congress vote angers Turkey

Turkey reacts angrily to a US congressional vote accusing it of the genocide of Armenians 90 years ago.
Despite furious condemnation in Turkey and a plea from President Bush, Democrat leaders in Congress vowed today to press on with a resolution describing the mass slaughter of Armenians by Turkey 90 years ago as a genocide.
Last night a congressional committee voted for the resolution, clearing the way for a vote on the floor of the house. The decision sparked angry demonstrations in Turkey, which has always denied genocide.
Today Turkey's prime minister said he would seek permission to launch military strikes against Kurdish rebels inside Iraq.
