"I'm in. And I'm in to win." That was Hillary Clinton's message today as she took her first official step towards running for US president.

The former first lady has set up a presidential exploratory committee to sound out the possibilities of launching a full bid.

Her announcement comes just days after another favourite Democrat candidate, Senator Barack Obama, entered the presidential race.

But is America ready to elect either its first female or first African-American president?
