The US presidential race saw key victories for Democrat Hillary Clinton in Nevada and Republican John McCain in South Carolina today.

Clinton's win in Nevada continued her momentum after beating rival Barack Obama in New Hampshire, although she is by no means through the front door of the White House yet as her lead in national opinon polls has narrowed.

Mitt Romney won the Republican nomination in Nevada.

McCain won the Republican caucuses in South Carolina, narrowly defeating rival Mike Huckabee. Results are still expected from the Democrats in the state.
