Charity begins at lunch for Carla

While Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy spoke to the press, the first wives were co-hosting a charity lunch.
"I am proud that people have seen her for what she is," replied a clearly besotted President Sarkozy to reporters who had asked how he thought his new wife had performed during their state visit to Britain.
As he and Gordon Brown were giving their joint press conference, their wives were co-hosting a lunch for 150 of Britain's most powerful and high-profile women.
It was, of course, all in aid of charity - and one to which, as Mrs Brown pointed out, the former model turned singer is donating the proceeds from her new CD.
