Bush's speech to Republicans fails to quell questions over Sarah Palin

By Lucy Manning

Updated on 03 September 2008

George Bush's ringing endorsement of John McCain fails to silence the questions about his presidential running mate. Lucy Manning reports.

President Bush's speech to the Republican convention strongly backed the presidential candidate John McCain, citing his support of the Iraqi surge and his understanding of the need to protect America from terrorism.

The speech, a day late and via video link from the White House because of delays caused by Hurricane Gustav, helped to put the convention back on track.

But his endorsement has failed to quell the questions over McCain's judgement in choosing Sarah Palin as his running partner as Lucy Manning reports.
