Bhutto: 'Call January elections'

By Jon Snow, Lindsey Hilsum

Updated on 06 November 2007

Former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto challenges President Musharraf to call elections in January, as planned.

Ms Bhutto said it is the only way he will be able to break the momentum of the protests against the state of emergency and security clampdown.

The chief justice, sacked on Saturday, now under house arrest, managed to get a message out calling for people to "rise up and restore the constitution".

Channel 4 News managed catch up with Benzir Bhutto on the phone from Karachi airport before she flew to Islamabad.
