Jorg Haider, the Austrian far-right leader, has died in a car crash.

It is thought his government limousine skidded out of control after he overtook another vehicle on a country road near Klagenfurt.

Mr Haider helped engineer a surge in Austrian right wing politics, which saw his party join a government coalition for six years, but brought international condemnation for his views on immigration and Austria's Nazi past.
