Arab TV: plea to free Briton in Iraq

By John Sparks

Updated on 29 February 2008

The stepmother of a British hostage in Iraq has appeared on Arab television pleading for his release.

He is one of five Britons who have been held in Iraq for nine months.

The televised plea comes in response to a video released earlier this week showing one of the hostages being held by a group calling themselves the Islamic Shia Resistance.

The relatives of many of the captives have already appealed for their release.
