Your nominations please...

By Channel 4 News

Nominations have now closed for your suggestions for the Channel 4 News Political Impact Award 2009.

It's that time of year when we look back at the last 12 months in British politics and ask you to help us pick the personality who has had the biggest impact.

Who can I nominate?

Anybody you think has made a major impact on the political scene over the last year. It can be a full-time politician from Westminister, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Equally it can be someone from outside the conventional political scene. Consider, for example, two previous winners: Dr David Kelly and Jamie Oliver.

It must, however, be an individual rather than a group, organisation or institution. Some ideas on the video:

Nominations have now closed.

What happens next?

Once all nominations are in, they will be considered by a panel brought together by Channel 4. The panel will whittle the long list down to a short list.

We will then invite you to vote from that short list. The winner will be announced at the Channel 4 Political Awards in early February 2009.
