Cameron and Brown were competing in the Commons today, armed with similar plans to allow police to carry out more stop and searches.

Mr Brown insisted he was taking action to reduce red tape, after the Tory leader claimed officers had to fill out a 'foot long form'.

It's all being described as a move to combat gun and knife crime but could it risk alienating ethnic minorities?
