Terror hotspots map of Britain

Britain's Muslim communities are to be mapped to identify extremist hotspots.

Police and the Home Office have drawn up the plan to help them identify areas which could produce al-Qaida recruits.

The government is worried that at the moment it has very little knowledge of where Islamic extremism has taken hold in Britain.

But the plan has led to accusations that the government is spying on Britain's Muslims.
