David Cameron accuses Labour of losing control of public finances as the Treasury reveals costings of Tory policies adding up to £50bn worth of extra spending. Cathy Newman reports.
The political row over public spending is becoming increasingly bad-tempered.
Figures prepared by the Treasury and released under Freedom of Information put a £53bn price tag on six of the Tories' flagship policies. Labour wants to know where the Tories are going to find the money.
David Cameron today accused the government of losing control of the nation's finances, as borrowing in August hit a record high. But the Treasury estimates assume the Tories would spend nearly £10bn on giving hospital patients their own rooms.
The Conservatives argue the figures are inaccurate.
