The Scottish Labour leader Wendy Alexander has resigned after just nine months in the job.
She said the row over donations to her leadership campaign and her probable suspension from the Scottish Parliament had become "too much of a distraction from the real issues that should dominate our public life."
Ms Alexander is one of Gordon Brown's closest political allies.
And in a separate develpment, a Scottish Labour MP at Westminster announced he's to stand down, forcing another by-election.
