"Every effort of mine, every day that I wake up is about keeping this economy moving forward," Gordon Brown says today.
The prime minister today responded to recent criticism that he is out of touch with voters' concerns by repeatedly assuring them that the government is listening and "on the side" of homeowners, businesses and others feeling insecure about the global credit crunch.
But a poll today indicated the UK government was the least trusted to bring the economy out of the current crisis and the Conservatives said Gordon Brown's reputation on the economy was "in tatters".
