Peers to be investigated
Updated on 25 January 2009
Allegations that four Labour peers agreed to seek amendments to legislation in return for fees will be investigated, says the leader of the House of Lords.
The police have been urged to investigate allegations that four Labour peers were prepared to accept cash to help lobbyists get changes to legislation.
The call came from the Liberal Democrats after a report in the Sunday Times claimed the peers said they would help change legislation in return for fees of up to £10,000 a month.
All four deny any wrongdoing. The leader of the House of Lords has promised a full investigation.
