NUS conference: radicalism continues

Billed as a struggle between left and right, a motion for modernisation is rejected by delegates at the NUS annual conference.
The National Union of Students was the organisation that led student sit-ins against Vietnam, apartheid and the abolition of grants - and it seems that radicalism is set to continue.
A motion by Labour supporters at the NUS conference in Blackpool is defeated after critics said it would destroy the union's democratic heart.
