Setting out his plans for government to the Scottish parliament, First Minister Alex Salmond has asserted that "Scotland's new politics starts now".

In what was effectively a Queen's speech, the first minister pledged to scrap tolls on the Tay and Forth road bridges.

Mr Salmond, who is running a minority administration in Edinburgh, needs the support of other parties before his plans can be put into effect.

Labour in Scotland has promised to be constructive, but the SNP leader might find relations rather more difficult with Westminster over his plans to scrap nuclear power stations.
