MPs' expenses: no light, much black ink
Updated on 18 June 2009
After weeks of revelations and resignations, key details are kept secret in the official MPs’ expenses report. Channel 4 News reports on what the black ink was supposed to hide.
It was supposed to be a chance for MPs to show the public they have nothing to hide from their expenses claims after weeks of damaging revelations.
Instead what was published today consisted of pages and pages of black ink, with key details kept secret.
There are no letters of correspondence, no details of claims that were rejected, and no evidence of "flipping" second homes which led to the resignations of so many MPs after details were leaked by a national newspaper.
