MPs may face criminal investigation

After a surge of complaints about MPs' expenses, police officers will meet prosecutors to decide whether to launch a criminal investigation. Victoria Macdonald reports.

Earlier Labour MP Shahid Malik became the first minister to lose his job over the scandal, stepping down pending an investigation into whether he benefited from subsidised rent on his home.

Malik insisted he had not broken the ministerial code and was glad of the chance to clear his name.
