Live blog: Queen's speech
Updated on 25 May 2010
The Queen's speech sets out the government's agenda for the year ahead and is delivered by Her Majesty at today's State Opening of Parliament. Follow the Channel 4 News live blog for news and comment.

The speech, which is written by the government and approved by the Cabinet, contains the new government's policies and proposed legislation.
The government's agenda is then debated for four or five days by MPs in the House of Commons.
The speech comes the day after the Treasury's 'shockwave' of spending cuts - outlining more than £6bn of government savings.
