The United Nations warns of a bloodbath in Sri Lanka, but does it spell the end of this long running conflict? Nick Paton Walsh reports.
Sri Lankan forces have tightened their grip on the last pockets of rebel resistance as the Tamil Tigers refuse to surrender.
The army says troops are now encircling rebel fighters inside the tiny combat zone, where up to 50,000 civilians are still trapped.
Aid workers say injured civilians are stranded and vital supplies cannot get through.
