'I absolutely refute any allegations of wrongdoing' - insisted one of Tony Blair's key advisors tonight - after she was arrested by police investigating the cash for honours allegations.

Ruth Turner was questioned by police on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, before being released without charge.

The Prime Minister called her a person of the 'highest integrity' - but today's arrest brings the whole affair closer to Number 10 - and it's sparked speculation that police could be looking into the possibility of a cover-up.
