Is David Gordon's new best friend?

By Gary Gibbon

Updated on 30 September 2008

Political editor Gary Gibbon reports on what's behind David Cameron's offer to the government of political partnership.

At the Conservative party conference in Birmingham the financial crisis stole centre stage, and pushed everything else into the shadows.

David Cameron made what they called an emergency statement to say he wants to avoid the political partisanship seen in America.

So he'll support Gordon Brown in speeding new laws through parliament to let the Bank of England rescue failing banks.

Labour's majority means they don't need Tory help, but Mr Cameron declared "We're in this together."
