Why are there fewer women making it to positions of influence in the UK than half a decade ago?

After all the initiatives laws and red-tape, it seems the glass ceiling in Britain preventing women from reaching the top is becoming concrete, fewer of them are making it, not more.

The number of women in positions of authority and influence in Britain is not only small, but shrinking, according to a report from the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

So why are women going backwards not forwards?
