Griffin to ask for BNP constitution change
Updated on 15 October 2009
The British National Party has been forced to change its constitution so that it does not discriminate on grounds of race or religion. Andy Davies reports.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission took the BNP to court, claiming it was in breach of race relations laws by barring non-whites from joining.
The party will now put the new rules to a special meeting next month and will not take on any new members until they are approved.
In effect Nick Griffin has agreed to ask members to let non-white members join the party following county court proceedings were issued.
The EHRC took the action on 24 August after raising concerns that the party's membership criteria excluded certain ethnic groups.
Robin Allen QC, counsel for the commission, revealed the party had agreed to present party members with a revised constitution at its general meeting next month.
The party has agreed not to accept any new members until the new constitution is in place.
