The sting in today's already painful tale for Gordon Brown? The man he persuaded to be Labour's top official, the General Secretary, has changed his mind and pulled out. Cathy Newman reports.
Now Labour hasn't just lost an election - it's lost one of its key party officials before he even started work.
Hedge fund chairman David Pitt Watson was supposed to take over as the new General Secretary next month.
But today it emerged that he was pulling out - forcing Labour to start searching for a replacement.
And after today's election disaster - it's not the most attractive job opportunity on offer - as our political correspondent Cathy Newman reports.
