Gordon Brown has dropped some heavy hints he may be preparing to announce a November election next week.

He'll make a statement on Iraq in the commons on Monday, while the Chancellor's pre-budget report and spending review have been brought forward to Tuesday - the last day the Queen can be asked to dissolve Parliament if there's to be an election on November the 1st.

The latest nationwide polls show Labour losing ground to the Tories. But Mr Brown is waiting for the results of Labour's own polling in marginal seats before making a decision.
