Feb 09: our expert poll panel
Updated on 04 February 2009
Channel 4 News's expert panel discuss the results of our exclusive YouGov poll and what they mean for Gordon Brown.
Polly Toynbee
Polly Toynbee is a Guardian columnist. The veteran left-wing writer was seen as a key supporter of Gordon Brown during the Blair years, and in June 2007 described his cabinet as "the most genuinely united government in living memory" and "as decent and clever a team of ministers as ever graced the cabinet table".
But the PM appears to have disappointed: on the first anniversary of Brown's premiership, she penned a column with the headline "A year on, Brown is yet to run out of steam, but his ship is plainly sinking."
David Hill
David Hill was Downing Street's director of communications from 2004 to 2007, following the resignation of Alastair Campbell. He left Downing Street when Tony Blair left office, and was appointed as a director of PR firm Bell Pottinger. He also worked as the Labour party's director of communications from 1991 to 1999.
George Bridges
George Bridges was David Cameron's campaigns director until July 2007. He has recently written articles in the Telegraph calling for a smaller public sector and for David Cameron to stand up to the striking National Union of Teachers.
Tim Razzall
The Lib Dem peer is business, enterprise and regulatory reform spokesperson in the Lords. He chaired the party's campaigns and communications committee for the 2001 and 2005 general elections, and is a close friend of former Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy.
