Facing the crunch poll - the experts' view

The poll results are in. What does our regular panel of experts think it means for Gordon Brown and David Cameron?
Since last September we have been tracking opinion in the 60 key marginal seats the Conservatives have to win to form the next government. And our latest poll suggests the bounce Gordon Brown got from the banking crisis is over.
So how should Labour behave when it is staring defeat in the face, and when people fearful of losing their jobs do not believe action on the recession will work?
On David Cameron many think he is talking down the economy. And will he ever shake off the perception that he is a lightweight?
Our regular panel joined us to debate the issue: David Hill, Tony Blair's former director of communications; George Bridges, David Cameron's former campaign's director; Tim Razzall, Lib Dem business spokesman in the Lords and a key strategist in the last two election campaigns; and the political columnist Polly Toynbee.
