A second Labour MP who took taxpayers' cash for a mortgage that did not exist is suspended from the party. Victoria Macdonald reports.
Labour will be meeting in the coming days to decide whether or not to deselect any MP submitting unwarranted expenses.
The Labour MP David Chaytor has been suspended from the party after admitting he had claimed £13,000 for a mortgage that had already been paid off.
Mr Chaytor has apologised and said he will pay back the money.
He is the latest casualty of the MPs' expenses scandal.
Today the Daily Telegraph revealed yet more details of politicians' claims, including one for a £8,000 television.
Writing in tomorrow's News of the World Gordon Brown says he does not rule out tougher sanctions, as it emerged the Labour party is considering proposals to deselect Labour MPs who have breached expenses rules.
