Disunity threatens Brown's government

Gordon Brown attempts to introduce unity to his beleagured government after a difficult bank holiday weekend.
The prime minister chaired a Cabinet meeting in Downing Street this morning and will hope to get back to a debate on policies after the last few days of leadership speculation and intrigue.
There will be little respite from the internal opposition, however, as the government's plans for part-privatisation of the Royal Mail loom on the horizon.
And the Conservatives have upped the ante with the launch of their campaign for next month's local elections.
