Clegg: I can be prime minister

The Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg insists he wants to be prime minister, claiming private polling shows the next election is "wide open".
In his keynote conference speech, Mr Clegg tried to reach out to disaffected Labour and Tory supporters alike.
Mr Clegg has had a difficult week over his strategy for "savage" spending cuts and watering down his party's commitment to abolish tuition fees.
So was today's speech enough to win over his critics and reassert his authority?
