In recent years, the Church of England has offered a reminder of old time theological disputes.

This weekend's meeting in York of the general synod, the governing body of the chrch, promises to be one of the most bitter yet.

Top of the agenda, women bishops, with a key vote expected to lead to a split and a there's another, even more central, issue beneath the headlines.
