There are calls for a judicial inquiry into Scotland's massive voting problems.

It's been called a 'national embarassment' - now - from widespread confusion over the ballot papers to glitches and delays in the count.

Across Scotland, it's now thought that more than 100,000 votes may have to be discounted as rejected ballot papers.

In some places, the rejected votes outnumbered the winners' majority.

Seven counts had to be suspended due to additional problems with the new electronic system.

The Scotland Office and the Electoral Commission have now ordered an urgent inquiry - most blame the confusing system.

This was two elections in one - with three separate ballots, and some votes requiring a cross, others a number.

There have been delays too - a new computer system, designed to speed up the process, has repeatedly crashed.
