Boris pledges London fresh start

He might be more famous for his gaffes and unruly hair but Boris the public school buffoon is now the UK's most powerful Tory politician.

Last night he even acknowledged his colourful past - quipping that he was elected as "new Boris and would govern as new Boris".

So does his new role mean an end to his clownish facade? And what about his vanquished foe, Ken Livingstone?

Today Livingstone popped into City Hall to clear his desk, and apparently bearing no grudges - said he hoped the new mayor would make London a better place.
