Updated on 03 December 2008
The government's slimmed down legislative programme is overshadowed by this afternoon's statement from the speaker about the police raid on an MP's office.
This morning Peter Mandelson accused the Tory frontbench of collusion with a home office mole following the search of a Tory frontbencher's commons office by police.
In a public statement the acting head of the Metropolitan police denied any ministerial involvement in the raid.
Plans to deal with future banking crises and a welfare reform bill on long-term unemployment were among the measures outlined by the Queen in her annual speech at the state opening of parliament.
As MPs left the commons for the House of Lords, Dennis Skinner was heard to ask:
"Any Tory moles at the palace?"
