Japanese police apprehended a man who went skinny dipping in the moat around Tokyo's Imperial Palace, attracting a huge crowd.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police said the naked intruder, identified as a middle-aged Westerner, suddenly jumped into the moat, then threw rocks and splashed water at a pair of policemen who approached him on a rowing boat.

The moat surrounds the palace in Tokyo's biggest business district. The man got out of the water and climbed up the stone wall, only to be arrested by police.
