Playful dolphin tours coast
Updated on 20 September 2007
A playful dolphin is touring the British coast making friends with sailors and lifeboat crews, marine experts said.
The dolphin, named Findol after a children's book, was pictured playing with the Penlee lifeboat crew this week off the Cornish coast and is believed to be the same creature that attracted the attention of sailors in Devon earlier this month when it was seen playing among boats in Plymouth Sound.
Dolphin expert Peter Bloom, who works with the marine mammals at Flamingo Land in North Yorkshire, said the dolphin's behaviour is rare but not unheard of and there were a few examples of lone tame dolphins off the British coast.
