A new dating website for firefighters and their admirers is setting hearts aflame across the world.

Set up by an ex-fireman in Newcastle, the site www.dateafirefighter.co.uk claims to be "the only UK-based facility for making contact with the Fire Brigade community" and has already attracted members from the US, France, Singapore and Argentina.

Paul Bagnall, who worked for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service for nearly 20 years, came up with the idea and has set up the site with his cousin Ian Bagnall, a website developer.
