An eccentric amateur pilot who was arrested after landing his plane near George Bush's ranch is back on British soil but without his flying licence.

Despite having his wings clipped, Maurice Kirk, nicknamed the Flying Vet, said he still had big plans to fly one day to Africa and the North Pole.

But a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority said Mr Kirk's licence had been provisionally suspended because it was not confident he was fit to fly.
