Lesbian couple fail over twins

A lesbian couple failed in their attempt to sue a doctor they blamed for giving them twins born by in-vitro fertilisation rather than the single baby they wanted.

The couple accused Canberra-based obstetrician Sydney Armellin of medical negligence for failing to ensure that fertility clinic staff implanted a single embryo.

They claimed everything to cover the cost of raising one of the children, now aged four, including private school fees.
