Banana-sheaf coffins for sale
Updated on 05 July 2009
Casket makers catering for natural burials are offering biodegradable coffins made of banana sheaves.
Ecoffins USA Marketing director Joanna Passarelli says the Colorado-based company sold $40,000 worth of banana-sheaf or bamboo coffins to funeral homes last year.
At least 14 funeral homes around the US offer the caskets, which take between six months to two years to biodegrade.
