Woman wins £1m on wrong scratchcard
Updated on 11 November 2009
A bingo hall worker won a £1 million Lottery jackpot after being given the wrong scratchcard.
The lucky mistake happened when Audrey White, 58, went to buy the card from a supermarket near her Suffolk home.
Three years ago Mrs White was facing repossession of her semi-detached home, but now she plans to pay off her mortgage and buy a new conservatory.
Mrs White, of Felixstowe, said: "I asked for a £2 card and she pulled out the £5 one by mistake.
"I'd already won £5 on another scratchcard so I decided to have a go.
"I rubbed it off when I got home later and I just couldn't believe it - I'm still in a state of shock."
Mrs White, who has three children, has taken the bus to work her shifts at The Palace bingo hall in Felixstowe since her win on Friday and does not plan to give up her job.
She said: "I've got a private bank account in Mayfair. I've got my own private banker. This sort of thing doesn't happen to an assistant bingo manager."
