As the recession looms and people tighten their belts, employees hope redundancy passes them by, will women will suffer disproportionately?
The impact of recession is as cultural and social just as much as it is economic.
The recession of the early 80s had a devastating effect on predominantly male working-class employment, but it wasn't too bad for their daughters, who began to enter the workforce like never before, especially in areas like financial services and retail.
Sectors which stand to be badly affected this time round.
